Service Design Case Studies
Case Study 1 - Assignment Timeline (Service Planning)

Overview
Created a 12-week assignment timeline for an assignment I am teaching at Darlington College. I used Miro to create the timeline to clearly map milestones and lesson context. I created this to prioritise core content that needed to be delivered while leaving room for iteration based on student experience.
Value
- Visualises the entire service journey.
- Acts as a lightweight service blueprint.
- Can be easily scaled based on student feedback.
- Reduces uncertainty for stakeholders.
Case Study 2 - Assignment Brief (Service Definition)
Overview
Created a level design assignment brief from scratch, structured around weekly presentations to encourage reflection, peer feedback and incremental progress. The previous assignment lacked opportunities for player feedback which resulted in less iteration.
Value
- Embeds regular feedback loops.
- Mirrors live development workflows.
- Aligns learner effort with outcomes and assessment.

Case Study 3 - Lesson Sequence (Service Delivery)

Overview
Designed lessons for an existing assignment brief covering:
- Target Audience
- Player Motivations & Market Segmentation
- Agile Project Management
I sequenced these lessons in order to keep player experience a priority. Focusing firstly on target audience, player motivations and market segmentation allowed students to gain a deep understanding of their player base. Before they gained a deeper understanding of agile project management and began sprint implementation. Previously, students would focus on developing games before understanding their audience which negatively impacted player experience. Throughout the delivery stage feedback was crucial to allow for iterations based on learner needs.
Value
- Supports informed decision-making at key points.
- Encourages player-centric thinking.
- Enables market-aware thinking.
